EMBS is moving Back to the Future!
Today we signed the lease for our new office, an entire floor at the
Long Mill, Darley Abbey Mills. Currently a semi-derelict 4,000 sq ft open plan space within a World Heritage Site in Darley Abbey, just one mile outside Derby City Centre.
Painstaking restoration work started earlier this year, slowly transforming the space into modern offices, last used in the 1960s. The project is due for completion in October, and we should be fully operational in our new home before the end of 2016.
Watch our restoration video to see how we’re getting on, as you’ll see there is still a lot to do!
Simon Bucknell, a director at EMBS, said: “Moving to a world heritage site and to buildings which played such a key role in Derby’s industrial past seemed entirely appropriate for us considering the sectors in which we work.” In the 1700s Derwent Valley was the equivalent of Silicon Valley making Darley Abbey Mills one of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the world.
“We are all very excited about moving into this building, it will be a truly unique and inspiring place to work and the whole team cannot wait to move in! “Darley Abbey Mills is now home to a number of creative and digital businesses and we all share the same enthusiasm for the history of the site”

Ian Stevens said, “We’ve come a long way since our first tiny office off Duffield Road. Our turnover has doubled in the last 3 years and we now have plans to increase our headcount to 40 over the next 36 months. Our growth over the last few years has been restricted by space, so they’ll be no holding us back now!”
Jamie Elliss, Director said: “2016 has already been a record-breaking year for us. Our results for the first two quarters have been particularly strong and we’ve signed up two large clients to recruitment outsourcing contracts so we feel very confident about the future despite the uncertainty surrounding brexit.”
He went on to say, “We are hiring across the business so please contact us if you’d like to work for EMBS in one of the coolest workspaces anywhere!”
